WRKE-LP in Salem, Virginia is a student run, non-commercial radio station licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to Roanoke College.
Broadcasting from the college's Colket Center, non-commercial WRKE went on the air as a "low-power FM" (LPFM) station in May, 2005 and has since then been operating on a 24/7 schedule with live, locally produced and automated programming. With a power output of 100 watts transmitting on 100.3 MHz WRKE's signal covers Salem and parts of the surrounding area (Roanoke & Roanoke County).
WRKE provides a creative outlet for Roanoke College students to share music with listeners, to explore new ideas, and to express themselves on-air.
WRKE 100.3 LP-FM is Roanoke College Radio, broadcasting live shows on 100.3 FM and streaming online. The station features programs like "Joe's Garage" and "Puentes Culturales (Cultural Bridges)", as well as student-produced content such as "Wander Tales-audio stories". WRKE also offers live remote broadcasts for campus and community events.
