Emotional trance is a sub-genre of electronic music derived from trance whose origins go back to the roots of techno and house music. It appeared chronologically after these two genres, around the beginning of the 1990s. It is characterized by a systematic search for repetitive and floating melodic lines obtained harmonically and by the use of filters whose cut-off frequencies vary over time. Trance takes its name from the fact that its music and dance can alter the listener's sensory perception and transport him or her into a state of hypnotic and meditative ecstasy, trance.
