Radio Shields NE

Radio Shields NE is a self funded media orgaisation based in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, covering the heart of the North East. We’re a non profit organisation relying on advert revenue and donations from the community. We aim of engaging the community in the medium of Radio through the training and experience.

Radio Shields NE carries a wide variety of content, catering for both mainstream and niche musical genres, and also broadcasts interviews, hourly news updates, and sports, talk and comedy-based shows. Our project has enabled more than 20 different shows to broadcast in its time since September 2019, with a small number of long-running shows also. The stations are frequently broadcast livefrom a variety of locations across the area and operates training for people who want to explore the radio airwaves, these can be both by local volunteers or community groups.
