Drum'n'Bass is a genre of English electronic music also known originally as Hardcore or Jungle. The "first of its kind genre" emerged in England in the early 1990s. The genre is characterized by fast break-beats typically between 150–180 beats per minute. with heavy bass and sub-bass lines. The "bass line" is usually created with sampled sources or synthesizers. Drum'n'Bass sub-genres include drum-step, break-core, ragga jungle, hardcore, dark-step, ambient drum and bass, and more importantly liquid funk and Intelligent drum and bass. Despite its roots in the UK, the style has more recently established itself around the world. Drum and bass has influenced many other genres like hip hop, dubstep, house music, trip-hop, and ambient music. Drum and bass is dominated by a small group of "hardcore" record labels.
